The following Dress Code revision replaces any
previous revisions and will be placed in the Cleveland Middle School and
Cleveland High School Student Handbooks for the 2008 – 2009 school year. Dress Code For 2008-2009 Cleveland High School Rationale General Information Students are expected to adhere to dress code at all times while on campus. Any fixable violations will be corrected by the school staff, with repeated violations possibly carrying disciplinary consequences. If a student arrives at school and cannot comply with dress code, he/she will not be allowed to attend classes. The student will be isolated and a parent called to bring appropriate clothing. If there is a question regarding a questionable item, please obtain clarification from the school administration before wearing the item. All Apparel All apparel must be solid-colored, size appropriate, and free from holes, rips, tears, cuts, or frayed hems. All logos on clothing must be smaller than a two-inch square. Logos must not be of an inappropriate nature including racially/religiously inflammatory language or pictures, confederate images, gang affiliation, profanity, etc. No denim (jean material) is allowed. Bottom Wear (waist and below) pants, skirts, shorts, skorts, capris All bottom wear must be dress or casual style of corduroy,
cotton, twill, or wool material. Bottom wear must be long enough to reach the
crease of the knee. For female students, any slits must not extend more than
three inches from the hem. All bottom wear must be worn securely around the
waist with a belt (if the item has belt loops). Belts may be leather or fabric
but must have a plain buckle. Unacceptable items include (but are not limited
to): cargo pants, overalls, large bell-bottoms, jogging pants, polyester, nylon,
parachute cloth, spandex, leather, suede, velour, and tight stretch pants.
All shirts must have sleeves and either a standard, turtleneck,
or mock turtleneck collar. All shirts must be tucked in so that the belt (or
waistline) is clearly visible all the way around. If the item is button-up, it
must be buttoned to the base of the neck. If one shirt is worn over another,
both must be tucked in. Unacceptable items include (but are not limited to):
items that will not stay tucked in, items with a low neckline, and see-through
type materials.
Any coat or jacket must be removed and stored in a locker once
the student arrives in the school building. No long or trench coats are allowed
at all.
