Cleveland High School is proud to announce that two of its seniors, Jackson Aseron and Evan Bonilla, have been accepted to some of the most prestigious universities in the nation.
Jackson Aseron received acceptance letters from Harvard University, Princeton University, and Notre Dame. Evan Bonilla was accepted to Yale University. Both students have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and service throughout their school careers in Cleveland City Schools.
Jackson is a proud product of Ross Elementary, Cleveland Middle School, and Cleveland High School. He currently serves as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the CHS Yearbook and is President of the Environmental Awareness Foundation. He represents Cleveland City Schools as the 2024-2025 Student Board Representative and serves on the board of the Dustin Ledford Live Wide Open Scholarship Foundation. Outside of school, Jackson earned his Student Pilot’s License and works at Shane’s Rib Shack, owned by his family.
“Getting here required me to fail and grow from those failures,” Jackson shared. “I feel eternally grateful to everyone who has helped me along the way. I couldn’t have done this alone.”
Evan is a graduate of Stuart Elementary, Cleveland Middle School, and Cleveland High School. He is the co-founder of CHS’s HoPe chapter, a club promoting Hispanic culture through service and outreach. He is also involved in CHS Theater, Model UN, Yearbook, and multiple honor societies including the Spanish, Science, and National Honor Societies. His commitment to service extends through Key Club, Environmental Awareness Association, and the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber Youth Leadership Program.
“As a first-generation college student and the son of an immigrant, this opportunity means the world to me,” Evan said. “I never imagined a small-town guy like me could achieve something like this. I owe everything to my family and friends for pushing me to grow.”
Both students exemplify the values and academic spirit of Cleveland High School and serve as inspiring examples for their peers. Cleveland City Schools celebrates their accomplishments and looks forward to the bright futures ahead of them.
