Cleveland City Schools leaders will host a Tennessee 3rd Grade Promotion/Retention Law meeting for parents and guardians of 3rd-grade students on Tuesday, November 8th at 6 p.m. at Mayfield Elementary School.
Tennessee state law requires school districts to identify 3rd-grade learners who aren't meeting state reading expectations on TCAP assessments.
If your student scores in one of the bottom two performance categories on the 3rd-grade TCAP English Language Arts (ELA) Assessment, you will receive notification from your child's school about pathways to move on to the 4th grade.
These meetings will be held in both Spanish and English. If you cannot attend Tuesday's meeting, we will have these meetings live-streamed. You can learn more about Tennessee's 3rd Grade Promotion/Retention Law by visiting our page here. For questions regarding this law, you can email the Director of Academics Autumn O'Bryan at aobryan@clevelandschools.org.
